Agile People: How To Inspire And Motivate For Success

Intrinsic motivation becomes crucial when you cannot motivate by external rewards and when people choose development instead of a promotion. In this presentation, Pia-Maria will explain why we do what we do and how to link our basic psychological needs to the needs of the organization, all in the strive to support people to move in a certain direction because they want to, not because they have to.

Pia-Maria talks about the basic needs and values that all people have (just to a different degree) and that make us the unique people that we are. A deep understanding for human needs is crucial to have for leaders, who need to treat people differently to get the most out of the workforce when tapping into motivation that leads to performance. In a great organization we all contribute with our best selves, doing what we do best every day. The leader is seen as a gardener who has deep people skills and understand what makes each person grow and develop.

Organizational Resiliency through a Living Systems Lens

2020 made it clear that Organizations need more resiliency.    Organizations have embraced self-care for individuals, but a collection of resilient individuals does not add up to a resilient organization.   We have a small window of opportunity to dramatically advance Organizational Resiliency.  The window is quickly closing, will we make it?

This talk will examine where the opportunities are for Organizational Resiliency, and how simple actions can make a big impact.

Meet Nick Horney

Founder and Principal at Agility Consulting, Author of VUCA Masters: Developing Leadership Agility Fitness for the New World of Work, Psychologist and Retired Captain, Navy Special Operations

Prior to forming Agility Consulting, Nick served on the Executive Committee of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL).  His coaching, leadership agility and organizational agility management consulting experience spans over 30 years and includes the start-up and management of the Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) Change Management Practice. Representative clients include Turner Broadcasting, Coca-Cola, Navy SEALs, Lenovo, CIA, ARAMARK, and REI.  Prior to consulting, Nick held senior leadership roles in the consumer products industry (Divisions of Nestle and Pepsi). He has written four books.  The most recent is VUCA Masters:  Developing Leadership Agility Fitness for the New World of Work (2021).

Nick retired from the U.S. Navy (Special Operations) at the rank of Captain and has applied that experience to his work with high performance team agility.  He serves as a coach for The Honor Foundation focusing on the successful transition of Navy SEALs to the business world.

Applying After Action Agility to our VUCA World

How to apply an After Action Agility process to a VUCA disruption as a catalyst for developing leadership and organizational agility to address future VUCA disruptions. This talk is an overview of how the After Action Agility process applies to both Leadership and Organizational Agility, and how this process has recently been applied with clients in three different industry sectors (Energy, Logistics and Public Education).

Nick is also bringing a guest, Dr. Santana, who will share her story of a specific client’s application of the After Action Agility process to gain better insights into how the organization could have applied better agility when dealing with a recent disruption.  In addition, she will describe how each member of the leadership team gained greater insights into his/her strengths in applying leadership agility to this disruption. https://www.linkedin.com/in/laura-santana-phd/

Meet Palo Blaho

Transformation Agile Coach for Societe Generale Group, Agile Evangelist, keynote speaker and still optimist.

After Agile transformation in one of key financial institutions in Czech Republic (Komercni Banka) is Palo now trying to help with Agile transformations in Societe Generale Group globally.  SG subsidiaries in Russia, Morocco, France… That means education, trainings, motivation, coaching and mentoring for  SCRUM Masters, Agile Coaches, Agile Leaders and all levels of management, basically at any part of corporation where it’s needed.

And is he enjoying it? Hell yes. Positive motivation of others for change and trust that changing how we are working, communicating, acting together in our companies could change the world, is strongest part of his personality. His background is in IT, from HW setup, IT networks creation, to SW development. He also know what torture is to be Project Manager, or SW department manager, in classical waterfall world. But after traveling around companies in different parts of our planet, he is more for 10 years involved in Agile as SCRUM Master, Agile Coach, Agile Evangelist.

Transformation, transformation, transformation

…isn’t it boring? There are dozens of presentation, books and videos about transformations. But what about other side of transformation? What about all those managers that are building their careers in corporation for years and their world is in ruins with Agile? So, lets discuss “Why not to leave managers alone”.

Meet Tomas Kejzlar

Tomas likes to say he is a mathematician by education, agile coach by trade, and a pragmatic cynic and skeptic by nature. Over his 20 years long career, he held various roles across a range of industries such as telco, banking, and pharmaceuticals. He is passionate about finding better ways of understanding and subsequently helping organizations to improve their ways of working. Currently, he holds the Executive Agile Coach for IT role at the US-based pharmaceuticals company Merck.

Stories of Change

The agile epidemic has caused a surge in huge transformation programs across many industries and enterprises. Yet often, these huge efforts do not provide value comparable to the energy invested into them. The alternative that I am going to show you, inspired by the work of Dave Snowden and Cognitive Edge, is based on using stories we tell each other and how through leveraging them, we can start changing our organizations not through huge leaps into illusionary futures but through small steps into better tomorrows.
