Michael has a split personality. One part of his works at Oracle as a Technical Lead in the JavaFX team. The other part is fascinated by creativity and explores all possibilities to encourage and foster it. This part also creates a new web application SketchHatch that helps distributed groups of people to become more creative and productive during meetings (http://sketchhatch.com).

"Hopefully this meeting is over soon, and I can get back to my desk to get some real work done!" Meetings are an essential part of today's business life. We gather with our colleagues in the hope of finding innovative solutions to our problems or generating breakthrough ideas. But yet, most meetings are dull, monopolized by a few and more often than not they produce no satisfying results.
But in recent years a new trend emerged to fight unproductive meetings: Gamestorming - playing creative games. In this talk we will explore why Gamestorming is so successful, why games are not only more fun, but can make us more productive, too. And we will look at some important rules and guidelines to follow while conducting games in meetings.
To round it off we will go over some of the most popular and effective games that are particularly useful in the context of software engineering.
